Studium Phil II Naturwissenschaften, Schwergewicht Geografie, Biologie, Uni Zürich; 6 Semester Geologie und Mineralogie, ETH Zürich, aus reinem Interesse. Wintersemester 1999/2000 Lehrbeauftragter an der UNI Zürich, Institut für Geografie, Vorlesung “Ägypten”. Diverse Wüstenaufenthalte seit 1982, insgesamt ca. 7 ½ Jahre: davon fast 5 Jahre in der Weissen Wüste Ägypten, über 2½ Jahre Wüste Namib in Namibia, Wüste Gobi in der Mongolei, Taklamakan in China, Atacama in Chile, Hochland von Tibet, USA West, Oman, Südafrika, Südalgerien, Äthiopien mit Wüste Danakil und Omo Valley. Mongolia The Gobi Desert, China Taklamakan Desert, Chile The Atacama, Tibet's High Plateau, USA The SouthWest, Oman, South Africa Kalahari & South Algeria Sahara, Ethiopia, The Danakil Desert and The Omo Valley, Desert Lut und Dash E Lut im Iran. Involved in the founding & development of a National Park in The White Desert of Egypt.
