Tout d'abord, je tiens à préciser que j'ai quitté l'école à 14 ans et n'ai suivi aucune formation, si ce n'est un apprentissage de mécanicien vélo que j'ai arrêté avant de terminer. Ce que je sais, je l'ai appris tout seul. Qui a réellement eu l'idée de connecter un véhicule public à Internet ? C'était en 1994, à Genève (SUISSE), dans un petit studio. J'étais un simple chauffeur de taxi, assez imaginatif et plein d'idées. Mon père m'avait acheté (1 000 CHF) un ordinateur d'occasion pour m'occuper. Comme je passais plus de temps dehors qu'à la maison, j'ai eu l'idée de « mettre » cet ordinateur dans mon taxi. À l'époque, c'était le début de l'Internet public, avec une ligne fixe et un MO.DEM (MOdulateur/DEModulateur) pour se connecter, et c'était un petit exploit quand ça fonctionnait. L'idée m'est donc venue de faire de mon taxi une sorte de 2e appartement. So the idea came to me to make my taxi a sort of 2nd apartment. There were of course problems... 1: the power supply of the computer in 220 Volts (which turned out to be stupid since I should have thought that the power supply was 12 Volts). 2: the connection through a mobile phone.
